About the event

Approximately 50% of total food placed at patient’s bedside ends up as waste, resulting in millions of dollars in wasted food, worsening the climate change crisis we face. Dr. Eileen Wong will share her findings from her award winning Quality Improvement project on the food experience of residents in a long-term care. With a patient-focused lens, she will share her interventions and measurement techniques to evaluate and implement change, resulting in food sustainability and resource stewardship.

About the speaker

Dr. Eileen Wong is a family physician now focused on elder care including rehabilitation and long term care. She brings a lens of multiple personal encounters with the healthcare system and is passionate about Quality Improvement to bring systems change. She is currently co-lead of the Food Working Group of Providence Health Care’s Environmental Stewardship Team, member of Providence Health Care’s Exceptional Patient Safety Quality Value Committee and more recently joined Doctors of BC Council on Health Promotion.
