Sonia Kim
Fraser Health
Energy Specialist
Sonia holds a Bachelor of Chemical Engineering from the University of Waterloo. After graduating, Sonia began her career in environmental sustainability at an engineering consultancy in Toronto. For the past five years, Sonia has worked within a municipal organization, focusing on identifying energy-saving opportunities in multi-unit residential buildings. She has extensive experience analyzing historical energy usage data and applying energy modelling and data analytics to monitor and improve the performance of energy conservation initiatives.
As an Energy Specialist at Fraser Health, Sonia tracks, analyzes, and reports on energy and greenhouse gas emissions data across the organization’s portfolio of buildings. She works closely with key stakeholders—including the Energy Manager, Facilities Management and Operations teams, project planners, consultants, and utility providers—to identify and implement energy conservation and emission reduction strategies. Her role also includes securing incentive funding from utilities and government programs and providing financial and data-driven analysis to support sustainability initiatives.
I’m excited to be part of the EES team and to collaborate with passionate people who share the goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions and addressing climate change. I find my work deeply meaningful, knowing it creates significant impact for the health-care sector.
