Health Organization
Fostering a culture of collaborative leadership and innovation for environmental sustainability in health care presents an opportunity for better health outcomes for patients and staff. Further, when individuals in the workplace lead by example and inspire others to do the same, it leads to greater success across the organization.
GreenCare helps to bring together health-care staff — whether they are direct-care staff, corporate team members and/or executives — and supports them in creating a more engaged and motivated workplace where values are shared and appreciated. Green+Leaders is a community of empowered health-care staff engaged in advancing sustainability across the health organizations through projects and initiatives, and play a key role in environmental sustainability leadership and innovation.
Goals and impact
- Reach, engage and inspire health-care staff to be leaders who share a commitment to and passion for sustainable and thriving communities, workplaces and environments.
- Work collaboratively to develop innovative sustainability solutions in health care.
- Build capacity among senior leadership and policy-makers to prioritize sustainability in health care.

Employee Orientation Goes Paperless
Green+Leader Amanda Welsh champions virtual learning!
In 2021, Amanda Welsh, a Practice Educator at the time at the BC Patient Transfer Network, saw an opportunity to save paper by digitizing their employee orientation program. With COVID, they needed to move the course online for health and safety. They could continue using print materials, or they could move the program online and save a lot of paper.
