2023 Climate Change Accountability Report Fraser Health

Fraser Health has made significant strides in its commitment to planetary health. In it’s 14th year, here are some key achievements from the 2023 report:

  • Emission Reductions: Achieved a 6% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions from 2022, totaling 40,452 tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent.
  • Transit Incentive Program (TIP): In April 2023, Fraser Health increased the subsidy for the Transit Incentive Program to 50%, leading to a significant rise in participation, with an average of 1,035 staff subscriptions in 2023—a 185% increase from 2022.
  • Heat-Related Illness Tracking: Fraser Health’s Population and Public Health teams established heat-related illness tracking and initiated plans for a climate change and health data dashboard.
  • Sustainability Initiatives: Continued efforts to reduce waste, promote sustainability practices, and build a climate-resilient health system.

These efforts highlight Fraser Health’s dedication to mitigating climate change impacts and building resilience.
