In February, the GreenCare team called out for used vinyl banners across the Lower Mainland health organizations for a special upcycle campaign.
Upcycling minimizes the volume of materials sent to landfill each year (in this case, your banner!). Upcycling old materials also reduces the need for producing new materials, which means less air pollution, water pollution and greenhouse gas emissions.
The aim of this campaign was to collect any vinyl banners that were outdated, damaged or simply not used anymore, bring them to an organization that uses them as raw material, and upcycle the banners into a new item that our team can use as giveaways and gifts at GreenCare and Green+Leader engagement events.
We received an overwhelming number of responses to our original call-out and collected just over 50 individual banners from a range of departments! As a result, we have created a unique, waterproof and reusable bag that we are delighted to share with you!
We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who kindly donated their banners and gave their time to support the GreenCare team with this campaign. By coming together, we have diverted waste from landfill and, instead, have created a new product that can be reused for years to come. Keep an eye out for GreenCare events in the future and how you can win one of these new bags!
