On November 1, VCH launched the region’s first carpool-matching website and smart phone app at GoOrca.ca.
For staff living too far to walk or bike to work, and in areas underserved by or overcrowded on transit, carpooling is the only option to save money on gas, parking and wear and tear on the vehicle, while saving time in the HOV lane.
It is easy, secure and confidential. Go to GoOrca.ca and enter your VCH email address. Create your typical Trip Profile(s), list preferences and indicate as a driver/passenger. You can create Trip Profile for certain days of the week based on your specific constraints or worksites. Create an additional Trip Profile for that monthly meeting at LGH and you just could free up your car on those days!
Privacy is assured: no home address nor last name will be listed. So when you find a potential match, meet for a short chat at work over coffee before deciding on more specific details. Either take turns driving, or agree on a reasonable fare for passengers based on distance and parking charges.
The likelihood of finding a match corresponds to the number of people signing up, so please spread the word.
