Green+Leaders Event: Climate Café

June 6 @ 11:00 am - 12:30 pm

Feeling overwhelmed by the magnitude of the climate crisis? You’re not alone!

Enter Climate Café, a gathering designed to provide a haven for reflection and sharing of emotions surrounding environmental challenges—without the pressure of devising solutions. Our aim isn’t to untangle your feelings or unravel climate change overnight; rather, it’s to foster a sense of camaraderie among like-minded individuals.

If you find this concept intriguing, we invite you to prepare your favorite comfort snack and a warm mug of tea or coffee, and join us (virtually) for a mid-day break of mutual support and solidarity. We’re keeping this virtual event to a small group to ensure ample time for everyone to share and connect.

Please send an email to nina.akhtar@fraserhealth.ca to reserve your spot!

About the facilitators:

Jess Lenihan (she/her) is a social worker, therapist, and a Green+Leader, residing and practicing on Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh Territory. Her environmental consciousness began in elementary school with concerns about animal extinction, and she still regards “The Lorax” by Dr. Seuss as the ultimate literary masterpiece.

Kendall McSweeney (she/her) is a social worker and educator, and a Green+Leader, also based in the same territory as Jess. A recent visit to the aquarium sparked her daily reflection on the environmental impact of her actions, even down to laundry decisions aimed at protecting the ocean. Fortunately, this session is virtual! 😉
