Culture of Stewardship & Social Sustainability

Culture of Stewardship within GreenCare and the LM Health Organizations means building staff capacity and leadership to integrate sustainability values into all decision-making and actions at work. 



Create a culture of sustainability stewardship (environmental, social, economic) in the workplace and promote active staff engagement.
  • Recruit, train and maintain a minimum of 150 Green+Leaders for each of the LM Health Authorities by 2020. 
  • Increase the number of registered staff on the GreenCare Community by 500 per annum.


Priority actions 

a. Build and maintain capacity to run and expand Green+Leaders program and support Recycling Champions;

b. Maintain and enhance the GreenCare Community website;

c. Investigate capacity building for management and senior executives; 

d. Improve employee engagement in alignment with Health Authority Human Resources (HR) targets;

e. Build Lower Mainland Health Organization capacity to integrate special projects inspired by the Green+Leaders program (e.g. paperless paystubs);

f. Maintain the use of social media tactics in direct engagement of staff through the GreenCare Community website.
